Event Information and
Sale Definitions
When you define a sale to be part of your event, you tell
AuctionBase what kind of sale it is (auction, raffle, or game), and
set defaults for the sale. Beaver Creek School has a live auction,
three different silent auction closings, a raffle, and a balloon
game.
For each auction, a default bid sheet type and options are
set. The Live Auction bid sheet tells AuctionBase to generate a
reporting sheet for use by the person recording the winning bids at
the live auction. For the silent auctions, they've chosen to use bid
sheets that show set price increases in the bidding, increasing by
9.0% with each new bid level. Of course, these defaults are
for time savings later. If desired, they can be overridden per
item when packaging is done.

The Bingo Raffle is set to be a raffle sale, so AuctionBase will ask
you to define the series of ticket numbers to be sold. You can then
track the purchaser of each ticket. This can be invaluable when
reporting your raffle activities to your local raffle licensing agency.
The Balloon Game is set to be a game sale, so doesn't have any
ticket numbers to track. The default price has been set to $5.00 per
balloon.
Note that all of the sales are set to be "Event" sales.
This tells AuctionBase to open the sales entry form expecting to charge the sale
to a bidder number, and have payment made at checkout later. The Bingo Raffle,
on the other hand, is not an event
sale. AuctionBase will open the sales entry form expecting to
have a cash sale entered. As with all the other defaults, this
can be overridden when a sale is entered. For the majority of
sales, though, the data entry person will be saved some steps. |
